Key Features

Galaxy AI supports an Energy Score that uses recent activity data to indicate daily physical readiness. Wellness Tips provide personalized suggestions based on insights collected by the watch and analyzed on a compatible phone.

Heart Rate Tracking is intended to filter body movement for improved readings during workouts. The watch also tracks sleep duration and offers sleep tracking insights. Built-in GPS supports outdoor activity tracking.

Sleep apnea detection is available as a software-only mobile medical application for compatible Galaxy Watch and phone models. It is intended to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults aged 22 and older over a two-night monitoring period.

Real-World Performance

For outdoor running and cycling, Galaxy AI can compare a current workout with a previous workout when the same starting point and path are followed. Samsung states that this comparison can use a selected workout from up to 14 days earlier.

Several health and AI functions require a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone, the Samsung Health app, and a Samsung Account. Energy Score, wellness insights, and sleep-related information are therefore tied to the connected phone experience.

The stated average battery life is 22 hours. Actual operation can vary with usage, connected features, and activity tracking. Heart-rate software is not intended for medical use.

Ease of Use and Maintenance

The watch uses a touchscreen interface and has a round OLED display with a listed resolution of 480 by 480. It includes a charging cable, watch body, and watch strap.

Interchangeable bands are supported, though select bands are sold separately. The listed closure options include a buckle, tang buckle, or foldover clasp.

No detailed cleaning or care instructions are provided in the supplied information. For feature setup and health-data analysis, users will need a compatible smartphone and the required Samsung services.

Pros and Trade-Offs

Pros include built-in GPS, Bluetooth connectivity, touchscreen operation, Energy Score, Wellness Tips, heart-rate tracking, sleep tracking, and workout comparison for outdoor running and cycling. The 40mm green configuration also has a compact, round watch format.

Trade-offs include the reliance on a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone, Samsung Health app, and Samsung Account for several AI and health features. The workout comparison feature is limited to outdoor running and cycling and requires matching the previous route.

The Sleep Apnea Feature is not a replacement for diagnosis or treatment by a qualified clinician. It is not intended for people previously diagnosed with sleep apnea, and its data is not intended to assist clinicians in diagnosing sleep disorders.

Who This Product Is For

This watch is suited to adults who use a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone and want a Bluetooth smartwatch centered on activity, heart-rate, sleep, and wellness tracking. It is particularly relevant for people who run or cycle outdoors and want route-based comparisons with prior workouts.

It is less suitable for anyone seeking medical diagnosis from wrist-based heart-rate or sleep information, or for users without the compatible Samsung phone and account requirements for the listed connected features.
